Design your own banners and posters

1) Go to canva.com and create a free account if you don’t already have one.

2) Click on “Use custom dimensions” to start a new design. Enter the dimensions from this table for the banner or poster size you want.

banner/poster size

dimensions

large banner 72” x 30” landscape orientation

5385 x 2265

medium banner 30” x 48” portrait orientation

2265 x 3585

poster 11” x 17” portrait orientation

1925 x 2975

3) Upload borders, graphics and trash images that you want for your banner/poster to the upload area of the tool.

4) Upload your athlete photos to the upload area.

Tip: if your JPG photos won’t upload properly, convert them to PNG and try again. Canva doesn’t work with JPG photos formatted as CMYK, and converting them to PNG solves this problem. If you don’t have photo editing software to do this, use a free online converter.

5) Here’s the fun part. Drag the border to the workspace and resize it to fill the sheet. Drag the athlete photo, graphics and trash images to the workspace. Move images forward or back so the athlete is the bottom layer, the border is above that, and the graphics and trash are the top layers. Move, resize and rotate images to create the look that you want.

6) Download the final design to your computer. Choose the JPG format. Examine it closely with a photo editor to make sure everything looks right.

Print your banners and posters

Posters can be printed on your own printer or printed by Staples on thicker (67 pound) paper for a higher quality result.

For banners, go to the Staples Copy and Print website and select Custom Banners. Select the banner size you want, choose from indoor or outdoor vinyl and upload your JPG file. Plan for how you're going to hang your banners up; choose clear adhesive hangers for indoor banners or grommets for outdoor banners. Pick up the banners in-store or have them delivered to you.
